President’s outlook Why is
the second newsletter of the year just now coming out in the middle of the
summer?!?!?!? Well folks, sometimes thing just don’t work like we plan.
Unfortunately, The needs and demands of everyday life take priority over many
4WD related things. Hopefully, the pace at which these unexpected
complications will slow down for a while so I can get caught up on everything
I have slacked of on. Speaking of slack, our meeting attendance has been fairly poor so far this year. At the May meeting, there were only 7 of us present! This, and the lack of serious issues to discuss prompted me to cancel the June meeting altogether. July had a meeting scheduled, but being that it was one week before the club picnic, I thought it best to combine the two into on day. Unfortunately, attendance at the picnic was not at the level that I wanted in order to conduct the business at hand. So what business is there to take care of? Two things, mainly. First, we are looking to revitalize our logo. Emma and Sandy Dryden came up with a neat design that incorporates a Raccoon’s face in the center. I think it is definitely worth consideration. Second, Daniel and I discussed the possibility of changing our dues structure. Currently, we offer both single and family dues. The advantage of family dues is that it buys you two votes per household. Currently, we have nearly the same number of members that pay single as we do family. All o our outgoing dues (to IFWDA and UFWDA) are paid on a household basis. So, the extra money that family type members pay pretty much stays in the club. Now, that extra money gets put to use, so it isn’t that we don’t need it. However, we don’t feel that members who are paying family dues are getting their money’s worth. That being said, what we are proposing is creating a household membership, and eliminating both the single and family dues. As straightforward as all this is, it requires a vote to be taken. I feel that it is in the interest of all (Continued on page ) |
