BOONIE RIDERS 4WD Club INC.

May SECRETARY’S REPORT

By alternate Secretary– Daniel Weisman

The meeting was held at Bill and Lisa Chapman’s home on May 17, 2003.  Rich Reisz called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m.  A total of twelve members were present, including our newest member Ralph “Skippy” Eckert.  Others attending were Bill and Lisa Chapman, Steve Roach, Steve Cain, Bill McFall, Rich and Melissa Reisz, Brenda Popp, Danny and Quinn Helfen, and Daniel Weisman.

Because Allen Popp and Jim and Tina Phillips were not in attendance, there were no reports read from their respective offices.

  Other new business included:

There was a care package sent to George Deel, who is a member of the 152nd National Guard unit.  He is currently serving in the Middle East.

The deadline for regular price registration for the IFWDA/Wilstem Ranch Ride is July 18th.  There should be entry forms available to print off the computer on the IFWDA website.

Rich Reisz suggested that the Club should look into updating our logo from saying “Tell City” to possibly “Southern Indiana.”  This is due to the fact that the club is now spread out over three states, and only a very slight part of the membership even lives close to Tell City.  It was brought up that some new logo designs had been created.  Daniel Weisman suggested that some sample logos be brought to the next club meeting for review by the membership.  Melissa Reisz suggested that the club also look into finding a new screen printer to do the T-shirt work.  If the club does vote to adopt a new logo, there will be a set-up fee for that design regardless of who does it.

Another reminder is that your medical information sheet needs to be filled out and returned to Melissa Reisz as soon as possible.  This is so she can get the info card made up for everyone.  Although this is completely optional, it is a very good idea in the event of an accident.  The form can be e-mailed to you, just ask either Rich or Melissa.

Rich mentioned having a “Free Life Membership” plaque made for Hank Watson.  As most of you already know, Mr. Watson has been kind enough to let us camp and wheel on his property for several years now.  The plaque will be made at 4 Star Awards in Jasper and Rich will take care of having it made.  The cost will be approximately $30.  Rich made a motion to have the plaque made, and Daniel Weisman seconded.  All members in attendance were in favor and none were opposed.

WCRD - The Dusty Trails Saddle Club/St. Jude's Charity Ride will be held May 31st.  It is likely that there will be newspaper and TV coverage of this event.  Although there will probably not be any chances of wheeling, any attendance would be good.  Rich suggested that the Club donate $50 to the event.

WCRD - Most of the trails on the Interlake property have now been inventoried via GPS.  Now that Turkey season is closed, the Interlake property is open.  However, Rich cautioned that do want to ride in the Interlake/Spurgeon area, to avoid driving in the woods and/or muddy areas.  Daniel suggested that unless we (BR4WD) are involved with a WCRD function, to simply not ride on the property.

The Adopt-a-Highway signs are now up at the site just south of Dale, IN.  The date set to perform the first clean up for 2003 is June 14th at 8 a.m.  This will be the morning of the meeting held at Rich and Melissa’s house.  Rich made a motion that the fore mentioned date and time be accepted, Danny Helfen seconded it.  All members in attendance were in favor and none were opposed.
