I had reconnected the original computer, but I was soon to find out.

With a little more piddling near the coil, re-connecting the coil to distributor wire, I soon found the culprit.  On one of the wires to the coil, exactly where the tachometer was hooked into, to be exact, was very weak.  With a light pull, the wire broke in two.

I stripped the insulation back on the now three ends and twisted them together.  Hoping that I had found the problem, I went back to the cab and turned the key.  This time, the Flowmaster let me know that the engine was running.  A short trip down the road told me that it was running right once again.  Then, with the engine at idle, I pulled the wires apart.  Instantly, the engine died.  I had found the problem.  I also remembered the jumpy tach, and how I should have put the two together.  I soldered the connection this time to make it permanent, which unfortunately is what I should have done originally.

Now, all four days were nearly gone.  I had spent most of that time annoyed, maybe even bordering on being pissed off.  Even though I spent over $70 in parts I didn’t actually need, not to mention causing both myself and Lisa migraine headaches, the truck was fixed.

The lesson I, and hopefully everyone reading, will take from my story is to not simply buy parts without at least being more confident that they are actually at fault.  On a second note, does anyone need a good, used coil, TFI, or pick-up for a 2.9L Ford V6?  It was worth a shot, right?

provide dates for picking up trash along our 2 mile stretch 4 times a year.  Since I live so close to it, I frequently take a drive through to check out the amount of visible trash. I am happy to say, so far it doesn’t look too bad. If possible, I would like to see a date before Memorial Day Weekend for our first run. We could use as many Boonies as we can get for this, but I think everyone has to be 18 or older… I know that the issue of the signs was a sore spot for several members, and I truly do understand why. I hope that now that they are up, this issue can be put to bed for the common good of both our club, and the entire OHV community. Here is a picture of the sign.
