SECRETARY’S REPORT

   The first meeting of the year was held at Allen and Brenda Popp’s house on March 8, 2003.  Members present at this meeting were as follows: Heath Eckerle, Billy and Lisa Chaplin, Allen Popp and Brenda Angel, Jim and Tina Phillips, Rich and Melissa Reisz, Bill McFall and Bonnie Dagly, Greg Mauzey and Michelle Hume.  We had one guest attend, Danny Helfen (Scorch).  Welcome new member, Ralph Eckert (Skippy), who will be moving to Evansville from Las Vegas shortly.

 

  At this meeting half pot was $8.50 and won by Ivay Ryan (McBill and Bonnie’s little girl).  We had a short discussion about Melissa Reisz being the Boonie Riders Medical Aid person.  She is drawing up a questionnaire for all members to complete and carry in their trail-riding units in case of an emergency.  This is so we can be aware of anyone’s allergic reactions, required medication, etc.

 

   Future Boonie events—March 21-23 trail ride at LBL.  April 11-13 trail ride and clean up at Mt. Watson.  Club meeting on April 12th at 4:00 pm while at Mt. Watson.  June 7 Redbird in Dugger, IN opens for trail riding.  June 14th club meeting at Rich and Melissa Reisz’s house.  July 12th Boonie summer party and club meeting at 4:00 pm at Jim and Tina Phillips’ house.  August 9th club meeting at 4:00 pm at the Dubois County 4-H Fair grounds shelter house.  August 15-17 trail ride at Wilstem.  September 6 club meeting at 10:00 am at Rich and Melissa Reisz’s house and Dale Fall Fest Parade at noon.  September 19-21 Indy Jamboree.

 

   Just got word that Danny Helfen joined the club.  Welcome, Scorch!

 

   Trail ride at LBL was held on March 21-23rd.  Members attending this event were as follows: Danny Helfen, Rich and Melissa Reisz, Allen Popp and Brenda Angel, Jim and Tina Phillips. Rodney Gogel and April Mehling, Bill McFall and Bonnie Dagly, Keith and Sandy Dryden.  Thank you Keith and Sandy for the great Dryden burgers on Saturday night!  We logged 20 something miles of trail riding at this event.  The weather was beautiful and the company was good.

 

   Trail ride and clean up at Mt. Watson was held on April 11-13th.  Members attending this event were as follows:  Jim and Tina Phillips, Rich and Melissa Reisz, Allen Popp and Brenda Angel, Keith Dryden, Steve Cain, Jonathan Lozon, Dave Kane, Danny Helfen, Billy Chaplin, Steve Roach, Bill McFall, Daniel Weisman, Hank Watson, Greg Mauzey, Bryan Elbrink, and John Deel.  A few guests also attended.  Clean up was supposed to be done at the Hotel on Saturday but a certain person didn’t show and we could not ride on the property (you know who…).  Would have had a lot of excellent help…otherwise, there was a lot of riding going on at Mt. Watson.  The Hankicon sure got its workout!  Some camped in tents on Friday and Saturday night.  The weather was awesome.  A huge bonfire was going on Saturday night that made us sit at least 20 feet away from it.  Good times, people, good times.  Those members who did not attend sure missed out on a good time and great company.

 

   Well folks, this is the last newsletter I will be separating Allen’s last name from Brenda’s.  They are getting married on April 19th.  Congratulations Allen and Brenda on your marriage!

 

   Someone has posted on the calendar on the website that there will be a trail ride on Saturday, May 10th at Mt. Watson.  I am not sure if this is accurate or not.  I did not hear this date for trail ride at Mt. Watson.  But if it is true, see ya all there!
